O.F. Nelson's Nursery is a family owned business founded over 50 years ago. Olin Finley Nelson (O.F. Nelson), wife Mabel and two sons, B.P. and Earl, moved to Central Florida from Columbiana, Alabama in the early 1930's. The nursery came to be located in Apopka when the older son, B.P., married Catherine Land. The newlyweds settled in Catherine's hometown of Apopka, known then as the Indoor Tropical Foliage capital of the world. B.P. had a vision of owning a nursery, starting on a small scale with his backyard greenhouse. In 1957 they covered the slat shed with plastic. The following year, they built the first glass greenhouse which was located on Sheeler Road.

Now, O.F. Nelson's Nursery is located at 3207 Clarcona Road, and has 11 acres of greenhouses with a variety of prefinished and finished blooming indoor foliage plants. Nelson's Nursery also has several acres of container grown roses marketed mainly in the Southeastern United States and the Caribbean known as the famous Nelsons' Florida Roses. Mark T. Nelson (Olin's grandson and B.P.'s son) is the company owner and president. He is continuing the proud tradition of growing the best blooming plants and roses in the foliage industry.
